The Newark city site at newarkde.gov is the main hub. The City Council has seven elected members who serve 2-year terms. Council meets on the second and fourth Monday of each month at 7 p.m. at 220 South Main Street. The city runs its own police, fire, and public works.

Newark Police Records People Search

The Newark Police Records Division is at (302) 366-7100, option 3. Hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Police reports are not open under Delaware FOIA. Only victims listed on a report are eligible for the victim's copy. The first copy is free. Extra copies are $20 each. Non-victims can only get a report with a subpoena or another legal means.

A photo ID is required for any request. A Records Request Form is on the city site. You must fill it out and submit it with the right ID. The department works with the Delaware State Police on major cases.

Collision reports are $20. Drivers or owners of vehicles on the report can pick one up. Insurance firms can too. Serious injury or fatal crash reports cost $60. Mail and walk-in options are open.

Newark Alderman's Court People Search

The Newark Alderman's Court is Court No. 40 under the Delaware Chief Justice. The alderman is nominated by the governor and confirmed by the state senate.
